Abstract

The mother tongue plays an important role in the development of competences and also in the acquisition of knowledge and the adoption of attitudes and values. Therefore, teaching and learning the mother tongue have as main objective to develop transversal competences in oral and written communication. This main goal relates the process of teaching and learning the mother tongue with the reflection on any relevant social topic, thus articulating it with other scientific domains. This interaction demands a transversal approach of the process of teaching and learning the mother tongue (Rey, 1996; Valadares, 2003; Sá, 2012), which can be materialized in interdisciplinary projects.
