Teaching how to summarize from the 1st cycle: A didactic sequence for distance learning

Abstract

How to plan work sessions adapting to the current educational conditions?
This was the challenge that we accepted, during the construction of the didactic sequence that we present in this issue of Palavras - revista em linha, and that led us to the identification of some of the problems that arise for teachers in the creation of learning situations, in synchronous or asynchronous work, in a distance learning environment.
We used, as a starting point, used materials, recreated in a training situation, considering that in this way the most common procedures adopted by teachers would be reproduced in the actual circumstances, that is, adapting the materials and methodologies that are usual in the classroom.
We chose the summary as the learning content and trained text reduction strategies in the 1st cycle, as an initiation phase. We worked on the processes of global understanding of the text, the macroprocesses. These processes are oriented towards the comprehension of the text as a whole, comprise the identification of the main ideas and the use of the text structure.
